I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISGUSTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!
Apparently, the folks behind Amazon.com are hugely lacking in the morals department. Apparently, they think it’s okay to support pedophiles and how-to books for pedophiles; and do so under the disguise of ‘freedom of speech.’ But anyone with half a brain knows what it’s really about… the almighty dollar. Apparently, they love to market to sick and twisted evil-doers and child rapists.
I am FINISHED with Amazon. Done. I am removing every single link to Amazon.com from this blog, from every single review I have done. I will never publish a review on Amazon.com again, ever. If the folks I do book reviews for get upset about that, then I’ll just stop doing reviews for them.
I can not and WILL NOT be any part of a company that promotes such sickness.
As a survivor of child molestation, the folks behind the site may as well have walked into my house and slapped me on the face. There are millions of children who have to endure this kind of sickness every single day; millions of children whose lives are turned upside down at the hands of evil sick twisted people. And this proves to me that Amazon.com doesn’t give one iota about children. To give pedophiles even a small voice just makes them even more brazen, even sicker, even more evil, even more confident.
To Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon.com– I sincerely hope you don’t have children, and if you do, that those children are never the victim of such evil people as pedophiles are. I don’t understand how you could possibly lay your head down at night and sleep peacefully, and sincerely hope you don’t! I hope it nags at your conscience every single day. Evil breeds evil and that is exactly what you are doing by promoting such evil. I hope and pray that God touches your heart and shows you the true difference between right and wrong!
For the record, this doesn’t appear to be the first time Amazon.com has pulled a stunt like this either. Apparently there was a similar issue in 2002. Had I known about this past history, I would never have done business with Amazon. At least I know now.
I am furious. I am hurt. And I am disgusted. When is the world going to step up for our children and put them first? When?

[Edit to add: 6:33 pm] I want to clarify something… I am against the sell/promotion of this book because it glorifies illegal sexual acts against children by adults. No reputable company would, in my opinion, ever want to be associated with anything that glorifies child rape. Reputable being the operative word here. Amazon is clearly not reputable.
I have read an interview given by the book’s author, and he is not an expert on this subject. He does not hold any kind of degree that would make him an expert on ‘rehabilitating’ sexual predators. He is, by his own admission, a mentally unstable person who was involuntarily committed for psychiatric treatment for several months. This is not a how to not be a pedophile book; this is a how to be a better pedophile book. I don’t care how the author tries to sugar coat it. His own description of the book says it all.
As far as censorship goes, Amazon doesn’t have a problem removing people’s comments about this book. So obviously they have no problem with censorship, even though that is what their defense of keeping this disgusting book on their site is. And removing a book from their site does not constitute censorship. They are a business, and businesses choose what they sell. Choosing to not sell something does not violate any freedom of speech– so those bandwagoners need to find something else to ride because it ain’t flying this time.

[Yet another edit: 8:42 pm] Someone has been brave enough to download the book and actually let us all know what exactly is IN the book… and according to what was said, it is exactly what we think it is. You can read about it here… (please note there is a curse word used in the title of the blog- I know I never post things or link to anything with foul language, but in this instance it is necessary so that everyone who wants to know can see that there is a justifiable reason to want this book removed.) I have already thanked the blog owner for getting this out there, and would like to say thank you again here. This is just more proof positive that Amazon really has gone too far this time.

Well said! Thanks for linking up. I get the freedom of speech thing, I do, but this abuses the freedoms we adopted as a country. Our forefathers would not have stood for such indecency.

Well said. Very well said. Thanks for helping spread the word on this. I’m sad to see the haters on Twitter and other social networking sites come out to call this the “bandwagon.” Be ashamed those of you not standing up for the rights of children.

I agree with every word, as you know. This is just despicable. Amazon says they will not censor material just because it is “objectionable” But obviously they do not know the difference between criminal and objectionable.
Thanks for the code! Even tho amazon pulled the book now, in my opinion the point is that they were even willing to sell it in the first place. I am done with them. I posted about it this morning.

You’re welcome! I’m going to make another one that will include all of Amazon’s subsidiaries… for me it’s this:
1- they have tarnished their reputation (for me) because they never should have promoted the sell of such garbage to begin with
2- this is not the first time Amazon has done something like this, and THAT book is still available after much protest and threatened law suits (Amazon does NOT care about the consumer opinion, that much is obvious)
3- I don’t believe they have pulled the pedo book; I think they have removed the link and image and will keep them removed until the smoke clears, then it will be right back up there for them to make their money off of. I will be keeping a check on it, however, from here on out.
I’m thinking of making smaller sizes of the new anti-Amazon button I’m going to make, so there’s variety for different sidebar/widget sizes.
